New Honda S2000 "Modern Classic Car"


Honda Motor Company entered the 21st century by going back to its roots: producing a two-seat roadster. The new Honda S2000, a carefully crafted blend of horsepower and sculpted good looks matched to a Formula One exhaust note, was a far-cry from the S600 and S800 roadsters of the 1960s,
but like its predecessors, its name was based upon its engine displacement.

Honda S2000 is a high performance two-seater roadster has nearly 10 years without a complete redesign. Honda spiced things last year, but the track-ready with a new package called the S2000 CR. CR stands for "club racer," and trim continues into 2009. He competes with the S2000 two-seat roadsters, including the Pontiac Solstice GXP, BMW Z4 and Audi TT.

Built in celebration of Honda’s 50th anniversary, the S2000 boasted performance numbers (zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds) similar to the Acura NSX, and at half the cost – approximately $52,000 Canadian.

The S2000 was built in recognition of Honda’s racing pedigree. Producing a whopping 240 horsepower from a normally aspirated 2.0-litre DOHC VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine had never been attempted or achieved before in a production vehicle. It remains today one of the most remarkable engines ever built.

Outside
S2000 has a wedge-shaped profile that stands apart from other roadsters. It was built on 94.5-inch wheelbase and measures 162.7 inches long overall features. Standards include: high intensity discharge lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, power-operated top has a glass rear window with defroster, molded top cover is included; hardtop body colors are available, integrated roll bars behind the seats and a clear acrylic wind deflector mounted between bar and helps to reduce turbulence.

Inland
The S2000 two-seat equipped with a body-hugging, leather-trimmed bucket seats. Driving range is limited because the position does not adjust the steering wheel and seats to be positioned manually. storage space at a premium, there is a small keg between the seat and the trunk only has 5 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Interior Amenities include: a clean storage bag-panel doors, aluminum and leather shift key, aluminum pedals and aluminum-accented footrest and silver trim accents and XM Satellite Radio and headrest speakers are available.

Under the Hood
four-cylinder high-revving Honda redlines at 8000 rpm. A,-liter 237-hp four-cylinder 2.2 engine with 162 foot-pounds of torque mated to a six-speed manual transmission and has a 49/51 weight distribution.

Safety
Safety features include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist-all, dual front airbags, side impact airbags and no stability in the system electronics.
