Audi TT 2010 overview and pictures

2010 Audi TT Overview
An iconic Teutonic shape defines the uniquely seductive and athletic nature of the well-appointed 2010 Audi TT.

The two-door 2010 Audi TT is available as a four-seat coupe and a two-seat roadster. The TT is powered by Audi’s excellent 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine with FSI direct-injection technology. The turbo-four features excellent throttle response and minimal turbo lag for great acceleration in almost any situation.

Power is transferred through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox that provides almost instantaneous gear changes. Shifts can be directed manually or automatically. The drivetrain is finished with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system, featuring an electronic-locking front differential. Fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is significantly higher than the two-seat-only Nissan 370Z and BMW Z4.

A quick-folding three-layer fabric top protects roadster occupants from wind, rain, and exterior noise. The 2010 Audi TT continues a tradition of displaying the pinnacle of form and function in every facet of interior design, from the air vents to the 3G Multi Media Interface controls. When the standard interior garnishments are not enough, the Baseball Optic Leather Package adds fine Nappa leather with baseball glove style stitching for a uniquely attractive and pleasing interior.

Alternatively, the S-line package adds leather sport seats with suede-like Alcantara® inserts, along with an exterior appearance upgrade that includes 19-inch twin-seven-spoke wheels and more aggressively designed fascias. The Enhanced Interior Package adds Nappa leather seating, sans baseball stitching, and applies leather to the dash, doors, and most major areas of the interior.

For your traveling pleasure, Audi’s Navigation System Plus displays 3D map graphics on an LCD screen, and includes SIRIUS traffic for maximum commute-route efficiency. MP3 memory card slots and a six-CD changer are also included in this package. The available Audi Magnetic Ride system uses shocks filled with fluid that contains magnetically charged particles, and computer controls change the damping rates to match the driving situation. The driver can choose between Normal and Sport modes for soft comfort or stiff fun.

Audi’s all-aluminum space frame structure makes the TT an excellent crash-worthy structure, in concert with a good helping of airbags. Antilock brakes and a stability control system keep the 2010 Audi TT composed during evasive maneuvers.

German engineering at its finest meets small-car dexterity and exquisite craftsmanship in the 2010 Audi TT.

Ferrari investigating fire incidents with the 458 Italia

We’re not the least bit surprised that after having reported on an inordinate number of Ferraris catching fire under suspicious circumstances, we finally learn that Ferrari has been keeping tabs on all these incidences, and in response, is looking into the potential issues – and subsequent mess – they’ve found themselves in.

To date, at least 10 Ferrari 458 Italias have either crashed or burned down and the Prancing Horse is investigating on whether these incidents, specifically the fire-related ones, came as a result of driver’s error or whether it’s manufacturer-related.

According to a Ferrari spokesman who spoke to the Daily Telegraph, the company is taking the measures needed to learn more about these incidents and determine where the issues are. “We are taking all the reports very seriously and are looking into them but we are treating them all as separate incidents," he said.

The spokesperson also noted, in an interview with ‘Just Auto’, that “it is important to differentiate between what is a vehicle fire and outside factors and I would include driver error. Six have been incidents where it potentially could be the driver or other factors.”

We can’t fault Ferrari for acting all defensive with this because it’s certainly something that should be taken seriously. We’re just hoping that whatever problems this otherwise beautiful car has can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Audi USA 2010 Cars

Earlier this week Audi announced the 2009 line-up pricing, including the R8 sports car. But that was only for show, since the R8 is sold-out for 2009, and the waiting list is more than 18 months long. The 2009 R8 Quattro R tronic is $121,500, while the R8 Quattro Manual is $112,500. This is a $3,500 price jump from the 2008 model, but this has obviously not stopped the buyers.

The hand-built R8s come out of the Neckarsulm, Germany, factory at rate of about 20 per day. With 240 working days per year means approximately 6,000 R8s are built annually. But according to Audi of America spokesman Christian Bokich, "Worldwide demand is such that the R8 is sold out for 18-plus months." Who says the auto business is slowing down
