About Toyota Prius Plug-in

Upcoming semi-electric fully electric Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt, too small has been said about the Toyota Prius Plug-in. Toyota is working an experimental fleet of 163 Prius Plug-ins. Toyota lent us one and after two weeks of driving the Toyota Prius Plug-in, it gave us the good factor of driving green, but didn't save much money at present. Not to mention the added time and problem of plug in to recharge.

About Toyota Prius Plug-inThe Toyota Prius Plug-in is fundamentally a regular Prius with extra battery capacity using lithium-ion as opposed to nickel-metal-hydrate in the regular Prius. It allows the car to operate on the battery power on your own for about 14 miles. It reverts to its regular hybrid-electric operations with its gasoline engine and electric motors augment each other to keep the car moving. A full charge takes us 3:30 hours using a 110-volt setting and 1:40 hours using 220 volts.

Second Prius PHEV we have experienced in 2008. We had our own Prius converted into a Plug-in type with a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion by using this we can averaging 67 mpg for the first 35 miles.
